world4you launches Self-Employment Day in Austria on May 4

world4you, one of Austria's leading web hosting providers, is launching Self-Employment Day today, May 4. The initiative aims to raise the visibility of self-employed individuals in Austria and to recognize their contribution to the economy, innovation, and society. At the same time, world4you is providing resources that offer practical support to people on their path to self-employment and in growing their own business.
By choosing May 4, world4you builds on an existing international occasion in the English-speaking world and brings the idea of a dedicated day for the self-employed to Europe – in addition to Austria, the day is also being launched in Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The date is a deliberate choice: the beginning of May stands for new beginnings and fresh starts, for new ideas and entrepreneurial ambition.

One in three potential founders held back by fear of risk or lack of motivation

A recent YouGov survey commissioned by world4you shows just how strong the interest in entrepreneurship is in Austria: one in ten people (eleven percent) have already started a business, while around 20 percent are planning or actively considering doing so. That information is the key lever here is evident from a look at the biggest barriers: above all, a lack of motivation (31.5 percent) and fear of risk (28.8 percent) hold many people back – barriers that can be effectively reduced through targeted education and know-how.

Self-Employment Day aims to bring the achievements of self-employed individuals more firmly into the public spotlight. "Self-Employment Day is a welcome opportunity for us to celebrate all those people who turn their own ideas into reality with courage and passion. We see ourselves as a reliable partner, taking care of the technical foundation in the background so that entrepreneurs can focus entirely on what matters – making their own business a success," says Sandra Trummer-Gabler, Managing Director at world4you.

Recognition and practical support

Self-Employment Day is more than just a symbolic occasion for world4you. The initiative also comes with tangible benefits. On a dedicated website, world4you brings together resources that support aspiring and existing self-employed individuals with their digital start and in their day-to-day business. The focus is on clearly presented information that provides orientation and can be put to use right away.

The resources provided include:

  • a compact guide to the first steps into your own business
  • help with choosing a name and domain
  • information on building a professional website

This makes Self-Employment Day relevant both for people still working on their idea and for those already in the thick of running a business. world4you wants to make knowledge more accessible, lower barriers, and show that a professional digital presence is not an end in itself but an important building block for entrepreneurial independence.
